My Shuffling journey
Table of Contents
Overview
I have some friend who shuffle and it's always something I'd like to be good at. I've never actually put any time into learning how.
There is a trip planned for March, this gives me a motive to work towards. Some videos have been sent through and I've found some tutorials on YouTube so I'll be putting some time into the learning and then will post my progress here.

Finding and recording shuffling tutorials
I gathered a bunch of tutorial videos from @DimaSergeychik with the hope to add these to a shared folder
SHUFFLING PRACTICE
SESSION 1
31/01/24
Thoughts:
I found a song which made me appreciate the tech house snares for shuffling
Song name: Caught In Your Rhythm
Artist: GotSome & Clementine Douglas
Link to song on spotify
Feedback from Dat:
- Try to be more bouncy to avoid the foot scrapes
- He also gave Dan feedback to put pressure through the middle and back part of the running man, not the front step
SESSION 2
02/02/24
Goal:
I was aiming to progress the feet cross however I eneded up
progressing my running man based on Dat's feedback from the first session
Idea:
Create a dropdown where I could select the session number,
this would then show certain detail. For example you select
2 then it will show the notes / teaching points / goals etc.
Might be an idea to neaten things up into a format too.
SESSION 3
04/02/24
Goal:
The plan is to practice the Charleston
Learnt happy feet technique from Marbiik - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxOBhZBLOio
Charleston beginner tutorial from Marbiik - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YhzRZDatn8
Next session:
Learnt how to do the charleston with my right leg swining, will work
on my left leg swinging next session.
I also learnt how to the do the happy feet, I didn't put much time into the learning this

T-step learning - video used:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bniL9e3aIdE
Running man (realisation): When watching the perfect shuffle vid. When
moving his feet from middle to back his feet go out further
from the middle than middle step, same for the front foot
SESSION 6
12/02/24
Focus: Learn the T-step
Initial video used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bniL9e3aIdE
I initially watched this video and learned to transition from one foot to the other foot. I found that it's better to learn the move then be more creative with the movement.
Video used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdN8S2phxbs
This video was more helpful as he says about weighting on your feet when moving and when turning. It also says about how you should position your feet to form the T-shape.
SESSION 7
16/02/24
Focus: To learn other moves which can be used to chain different footwork steps
Video used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS4wFsKVXuc
No video of progress
I spent just over an hour working on mainly Scissor toe taps from the above video. I watched it on half speed to make it easier to follow

Focus: Progressing left scissor toe taps then chaining both feet
- Put some more time into learning the double tap as seen below
